The Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) Administrator is responsible

for the daily oversight of the administrative and clinical operations of

assigned practice and surgery center sites to meet the needs of physicians,

patients and staff and support the mission and vision of Cedars-Sinai Health

System and Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation. This senior manager level

position consistently provides direction on new opportunities in business

growth, strategic planning, marketing, and daily operations. Have oversight of

all ASC processes, programs, plans, procedures, credentialing files, services

and policies. Coordinates, in conjunction with the Governing Body, the

long-range financial development, and management of the center. Ensures that

organizational projects/goals are met, and this position has budgetary

responsibility for assigned areas. Teaching and coaching staff on workflows

including the creation and adherence to standard work. In conjunction with the

Director of Nursing, manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of

their jobs and takes the time to know the status of each staff member's skill level

and opportunities for training. Demonstrates the important characteristics and

responsibilities of a leader and takes the time to communicate with key

stakeholders to make sure they are updated on new projects, programs and

completion of projects/tasks.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Workwith Governing Board in charting and implementing the Center’s mission inaccordance with the needs of the community

  • Ensurescompliance with state and federal laws, professional and regulatory agencystandards and licensure requirements. Maintains staff compliancewith health system and Foundation policies, procedures and protocols

  • Fosteran environment, which promotes staff growth and development as well asassessing staff’s educational needs and implementing programs to meetthose needs

  • Inconjunction with the Director of Nursing (DON) establish and maintainstandards of nursing care

  • Responsiblefor ASC policy & procedures and coordinate efforts for AAAHC and/orJCAHO, CMS, State of California accreditation surveys

  • Manage,hire, supervise the selection and training of new team members and ongoingprofessional development of staff

  • Prepareand present management reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) tothe Governing Board and Medical Executive Committee

  • Prepare materials for andattend meetings of the Governing Board and Medical Executive Committee

  • Functions as key resourcefor staff and physicians in utilization of key information systems andtechnologies. Assumes responsibility aspractice liaison for the resolution of system related issues, identification ofopportunities for improvement and implementation of key systems and system andworkflow enhancements

  • Provides direct coaching,performance management and mentoring to employees in designated areas and provides training to staff

  • Participates in the designand supports the operational implementation of organizational restructuring,new workflows, processes, programs and technologies

  • Maintains strongpartnership and collaborative communication across department areas of theFoundation and with associated service departments of CSMCF. Serves as liaison for areas of operationalresponsibility with facilities management, patient billing, utilizationmanagement, quality, risk, human resources and payroll

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in Healthcare, Management or related field.

  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration or related field is preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association Healthcare Provider - Required

  • Certified Ambulatory Surgical Center (CASC) - Preferred

  • RN CA State License - Preferred

Work Experience:

  • Five years of leadership experience required

  • Experience with Medical Office/Ambulatory Surgery practice to include medical office operations (preferably in a multi-specialty medical group setting)

  • Experience with scheduling, registration, electric medical records, patient flow, billing, coding, charge capture, referrals, authorizations, payer guidelines, compliance, credentials, privileges and regulatory agencies

  • Knowledge regulatory reimbursement, legal and policy issues as they relate to operational management

  • Knowledge of State Licensure requirements and other compliance regulations including Joint Commission, AAAHC, and HIPPA standards

  • Experience with LeanManagement. Demonstrated experience with running a department in a manner thatsupports the concept of continuous improvement, a long-term approach to workthat systematically seeks to achieve small, incremental changes in processes inorder to improve efficiency and quality

  • Must be comfortable doing large presentations to senior leadership

  • Must have an understanding and knowledge in Ambulatory Surgery Center and running a physical clinic
