Our 889-bed nonprofit, acute, tertiary, teaching Level I trauma center hospital is located in the heart of Los Angeles. The Pharmacy Department has over 450 staff members who provide comprehensive inpatient pharmacy services as well as outpatient services via two cancer centers, outpatient pharmacies and ambulatory care clinics.

Hybrid opportunity - up to 50% & staffing requirement - 1 weekend per month inpatient setting.

The Drug Use Policy (DUP) Pharmacist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California is responsible for strategic planning for biologics and therapeutic advances; collaborating with medical staff in development of evidence based guidelines; evaluating new drugs for the formulary. Additionally, the Drug Use Policy Pharmacist serves as the gatekeeper for high cost/risk medications and is a resource for the medical, nursing and pharmacy staff on the therapeutic issues and target drug programs.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

  • Pharm.D. degree from an accredited School of Pharmacy in the USA

  • Completion of a PGY1 residency or equivalent practice experience. PGY2 in Drug Use Policy or Drug Information is preferred

License/Certification/Registration Requirements:

  • Current pharmacist licensure in the State of California.

  • American Heart Association BLS certification as outlined in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation(C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure: Pharmacy Policy and Procedure

Experience:

  • Possesses excellent clinical database.

  • Possesses experience in drug information services and formulary development.

  • Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology as related to drug usage.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of common disease states and pathologies.

  • Ability to comprehend patient medical management plans.

  • Ability to apply current pharmacological and biopharmaceutical principles for the selection and use of drug products in a clinical setting.

  • Ability to extract pertinent information from the patient or other sources and relate it to the patient care plan.

  • Ability to teach and serve as preceptor for training programs.

  • Ability to provide recommendations and monitor the use of drugs in medical emergencies.

  • Knowledge of laws, regulations and standards relative to Health-System Pharmacy.

  • Ability to prioritize work flow.

  • Ability to evaluate medication regimen to meet the therapeutic needs of patients.

  • Current pharmacy licensure in the State of California.

  • Ability to learn and adapt to the use of automated information systems in daily practice.

  • Demonstrated competency in sterile compounding if working in the area, pharmaceutical calculations, compounding and pharmacokinetics.
