Job Description
To be considered for this Research Intern position, candidates must meet the following requirements: 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or GED. Additionally, applicants must reside in the greater Los Angeles area or surrounding cities for the duration of the internship and be available to commit to a minimum of 16 hours per week on-site, with remote work options available for certain tasks.
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to contribute to an exciting research project focused on the long-term effects of treatment in breast cancer survivors, including cardiotoxicity and subsequent cancers. The intern will gain hands-on experience in epidemiologic research under the guidance of Dr. Ramin and will develop essential skills in statistical programming, epidemiological analysis, scientific writing, and presentation.
Proficiency in statistical programming is preferred, with skills in SAS, Stata, or R highly valued, as these tools will be used for data management and analysis. The ideal candidate is passionate about public health, comfortable working with data, and ready to learn in a collaborative, fast-paced setting. Key Responsibilities:
Conduct targeted literature reviews to synthesize results from existing studies on the long-term effects of breast cancer treatment, identifying important research gaps.
Develop skills in statistical programming and perform simple epidemiological analyses.
Communicate research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions effectively through scientific writing and presentations.
Participate in weekly meetings with Dr. Ramin to discuss research progress and goals.
Engage in a culminating project that involves drafting a scientific manuscript and/or poster based on internship findings.
