The Department of Computational Medicine is a robust infrastructure that supports bioinformatics, computational, and statistical needs of all faculty across the Cedars-Sinai enterprise and the expanding needs of our Departments and Institutes.
Under general supervision, the Associate Programmer Analyst is responsible for application development supporting business objectives while providing junior-level expertise in software development lifecycle phases from concept and design to testing. This role will analyze, design, and build component-based applications, including the introduction of an application layer, modeling techniques, component and object-oriented design, complex algorithmic coding, and systematic approaches to application integration. You will work on new and existing applications, perform hands-on coding, and assist in architecting solutions. You may also serve as a liaison to internal customers, research groups, and various business support areas.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist in designing and building component-based applications.
Under supervision, test and deploy new features and versions of core applications, databases, and utilities.
Debug and maintain deployments of core applications, databases, and utilities, escalating for help when necessary.
Assist and support the creation of enhancements to software applications for review by more senior members of the staff.
Work in a team environment to create component/subsystem documentation, and help to produce design and technical specifications as needed for technical documentation.
Participate in discussions about translating customer requirements, recommending system solutions, and helping to formulate detailed specifications from which programs are written.
Support technology infrastructure, participate in the design and technical meetings, and liaise with end users, research groups, and other business support areas.
May create drafts of technical documentation for internal business and design teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, required.
Experience and Skillset:
One (1) or more years of experience managing application design, software development, and maintenance. Two (2) years of IT experience in a team environment.
Experience using various programming languages is highly desired.
Technical understanding of data and relational databases and technical data design.
Understanding of Unified Modeling Language tools and how they are applied to OO design.
Unix, Linux, and Windows operating systems.
C#, C++, C skills helpful.
