What will you be doing in this role?
The Cardiovascular Interventional Radiologic Technologist (RT) assists in all procedures performed in the Cardiovascular Intervention Center and is a member of the Cath Lab team. The Cardiovascular Interventional Rad Tech performs the radiological procedures at a technical level. He/She is responsible for positioning the patient and fluoroscopic equipment as needed to obtain optimum views of all relevant anatomy during procedures. He/she provides a safe patient care environment, maintains and operates the physiological monitoring/recording system for both interventional cardiac and complex electrophysiology studies, is responsible for monitoring radiation exposure levels during all exams and ensuring that technical factors appropriate for the given procedure are utilized. Assists physicians by functioning as scrub tech or circulator, maintains film library, archives all digital images and documents all actions taken by the Cath Lab team. He/she is responsible for being able to setup and operate all interventional equipment within the department that may be required for a given procedure including but not limited to: Right and Left Heart Catheterization with dual transducer simultaneous intravascular pressures, Biopsies, Flow studies, Angioplasty, Stenting, Atherectomy, Valvuloplasty, Septostomy, ASD closure, PFO closure, Embolization, Structural cases, Electro-Physiology studies, Trans-Septal Ablations, Pacemakers, and ICD implants. He/she is responsible for observing all health and safety standards. The Radiology tech instructs/trains and mentors staff as assigned. The Radiology Tech is accountable to the CVIC Chain of command (department supervisors, lead technologist and Associate Director.)
High School Diploma or GED required
Satisfactory completion of formal Radiology Technology training in an AMA approved school program required.
Minimum 2 years Radiology experience or completion of educational training involving clinical rotations experience in either Cath Lab/Special Procedures required
Current ARRT and CRT certification required.
Fluoroscopy permit required.
American Heart Association or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS required.
American Heart Association ACLS preferred.
RCIS or RT-CI Specialty Certifications preferred.
Excellent arrhythmia recognition and hemodynamic monitoring skills.
