Right now, our Cytology Laboratory is looking for a Cytotechnologist to join their team!

The Cytotechnologist functions with general direction from supervisory personnel. You will demonstrate an understanding of and proficiency in screening and interpretation of both gynecology and non-gynecology cytology specimens. Responsibilities include generating a concise description of microscopic finding for each case that is screened based upon established specific cytomorphologic criteria using accepted terminology and giving the final microscopic diagnosis for negative gynecology specimens. At times the Cytotechnologist performs other related duties as requested, assists in image-guided FNAs, and teaches interpretation utilizing cytologic diagnostic criteria to pathology residents. Accessions and processes specimens in the laboratory. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the developmental issues of the patient populations(s) being served.

Educational Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in a biological science or a minimum of two years of college if ASCP exam passed prior to August
  1. License/Certification/Registration Requirements
  • Valid State of California Cytotechnologist license.

  • ASCP - Certification as a Cytotechnologist.


  • 1-year experience in Cytology (gynecologic and/or non-gynecologic interpretation preferred).

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interacting with peers, patients, physicians and other customers of the medical center.

  • Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.

  • Near visual acuity including color differentiation.
