What will you be doing:

The Desktop Engineer is responsible for the client technology core infrastructure: VDI, Imprivata, Enterprise Print, Clinical desktop and mobile. Also responsible for the development, testing, distribution, and maintenance of workstation images that incorporate the operating system and various applications, including office automation software, browsers, clinical and business application software, backup, anti-spyware and anti-virus agents. Other tasks include the design, maintenance, and operation of servers that support anti-virus and remote management tools, maintenance of hardware and software license inventories, patch management, and upgrades (both operating system and application software), the development of standards for workstations (hardware, operating system, and core applications), and development of deployment and troubleshooting standards.

  • Creates and tests workstation images and prepares them for distribution.

  • Provide level I/II/III support for helpdesk.

  • Prepares and tests software packages for remote distribution.

  • Administers desktop administration tools for enterprise desktop management.

  • Assesses and engineers’ computers and peripheral configuration for integration into health system applications.

Experience Requirements:

  • Four (4)+ years’ experience with desktop computers and operating systems, including Windows and Linux.

  • Remote software distribution (including package creation and deployment), push technology for anti-virus agents and signature files, software patches, remote control, and remote administration of workstations.

  • Solid grasp of hardware and software to include assembly and testing of workstations and peripherals, installation and configuration of backup software, antivirus software, network operating systems, file servers, print servers, web servers, browsers, database servers, and client software.

  • Understanding of network environment to include routers, switches, bridges, firewalls, VPN concentrators, and network protocols (TCP/IP, Netware, Appletalk)

  • Demonstrated understanding of the needs of healthcare and the priorities of patient care providers.

  • Proficient with mainstream office automation, project management, presentation, and communications tools.

Educational/Certification Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Healthcare, or related field. (preferred)

Microsoft Certified System Administrator (MCSA), Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP). or ACIC Certification. (preferred)

A+, Altiris, Microsoft Certified Technician Specialist (MCTS), Apple Certified System Administration (ACSA) (highly desired)
