Cedars-Sinai Director, Application Development in Los Angeles, California

The Director, Application Development oversees the development of the website, mobile app and related application integrations. The Director manages developers for back-end and front-end web development, along with resources developing and maintaining the infrastructure and functionality for a new modern mobile application. This role also has oversight of the teams responsible for integration development between various related software solutions utilizing API or HL7 interfaces. The Director is responsible for enhancing the future capabilities, mentoring, leading and delivering services with technical teams that are in-house or consultants. This individual drives the technical relationship within our teams by providing strategic leadership for the organization as it relates to architecture, implementation and operational support of projects.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

•Directs the application development team in the implementation of web development, mobile development and integration development between applications which support business and patient care processes

•Projecting resource requirements, ensuring appropriate assignment of resources to each project/support phase, adding and deleting resources as necessary, and has overall responsibility for completion of the project.

•Supervises and participates in the design, implementation, testing, enhancement, and documentation of all development.

•Maintains and adapts development standards and tools as new development technologies emerge on the marketplace as viable and cost-beneficial alternatives.

•Works closely with development team to establish priorities, managing the day-to-day development process, coordinating projects with developers and rapidly deploying each project. Manages the staffing resources to meet requirements for the current projects/task load. Develops, adapts, and cross trains the skill sets within the team to meet the demands.

•Responsible for all HR related duties among the team in addition to the recruitment process of new staff and mentorship of existing staff. Manages consultants and contractors.

•Leads and participates in the development of documentation, policies, procedures, sprints and standards for development. Ensures that change management standards are known by the team and applied systematically for each implementation.

•Works proactively to manage user expectations regarding requirements, timelines, budgets and support throughout the Implementation process.

•Supports the maintenance of software platforms and upgrades as required

•Scans, evaluates, selects, and integrates new software implementation solutions to ensure best practices, efficiency and to stay current with evolution on the marketplace. Proactively recommends, advises in direction for changes in technology.

Team Lead/Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Plans, leads, and directs work of staff to ensure goals and objectives are completed within established budget and deadlines are met.

Responsible for hiring, onboarding, managing schedules, personnel actions, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree Information Technology,

Computer Science, or related field of study required


7 years experience with information systems in complex multi-platform
