Cedars-Sinai LVN II - Center for Reproductive Medicine - Full Time - 8hr Days in Los Angeles, California

The LVN is responsible to support the OB/GYN Department (PDC, CFRM, CMIGS), with primary responsibility in CFRM, with phlebotomy, preparing rooms, chaperone physicians with ultrasounds, and procedures, set up procedure rooms, stock rooms, triage phone calls, coordination of care, and other duties as needed.

Communication (SBAR/handoff, chain of command, etc.): Communicates comprehensive patient care information with coworkers, physicians, and ART center, takes telephone orders, and communicates the physician's plan of care for the patient to the patient effectively.

Documentation (EMR and other records): Takes pride in the detail nurses provide for patients

to ensure a successful fertility cycle by communicating with patients via phone, My CS Link inbox,

and Outlook, updates EPIC flowsheets with new SART guidelines, updates paper forms through

the forms committee & CS Link optimization to keep up with the changing guidelines and gives a

detailed SBAR/handoff to the clinic staff to ensure continuity of care. Uses CS Link (EPIC), OBIX,

AS Software, PatientTrak, SART Cors, and Outlook for documentation.

PATIENT SAFETY/QUALITY (Nursing Sensitive Indicators – NSI, Quality Assurance Performance

Improvement – QAPI, etc.): Follows the policies, procedures, and workpapers in CFRM, CMIGs,

and Family Planning. Uses two patient identifiers when rooming patients, obtaining specimens,

administering medication, uses universal protocol (time-out) for procedures, and teaches a class

for patients to ensure proper self-injectable medication technique. Complies with current CDC

hand-hygiene guidelines. Identifies opportunities for improvement in nursing practice and clinic

workflow, and takes suggestions for tests of change to the nursing supervisor and physicians for discussion and implementation following the PDSA model to track progress. Maintains readiness for regulatory surveyors and participates in monthly regulatory tracers for preparedness.

Career Maintenance & Advancement: Stays current with CEUs, Healthstream education

modules, annual portfolio and tracer requirements. Attends employee open forums, attends various meetings: IVF conference, REI division meeting, and other meetings as needed.

Provides care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds. Identifies patient’s readiness for learning and ability to follow directions/instructions and give consent.

Orders and maintains inventory and stocking of medical supplies and linens to par levels

Obtains lab results from referring MDs prior to patient’s appointments; chart results in CS Link and notify RN or MD as appropriate of any abnormal results. Assist in training of staff, and coordination of care. Completes Outpatient Intake Profiles and updates allergies and medications under the supervision of a RN.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Graduate of an accredited LVN program.

  • Current and valid certification from the State of California as a Licensed Vocational Nurse

  • One year experience in an outpatient or inpatient clinical care environment.

  • Must be detail-oriented, a team player and have the ability to multi-task.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, written communication skills, and customer service skills.

  • Must be computer literate and able to learn how to navigate and document in an electronic health record (EPIC experience preferred).

  • Valid Basic Life Support Certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.

  • IV/Phlebotomy Certified required.
