Cedars-Sinai Obstetrics & Gynecology - Gynecologic Oncology Research Faculty in Los Angeles, California

Cedars Sinai Medical Center, one of the nation’s premier academic healthcare institutions, is seeking a full-time PhD faculty researcher to join the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. Cedars-Sinai gynecology was just ranked number 7 in the US and number 1 in Los Angeles in 2023 by US News and World Report. The OB/GYN Department has over 27 faculty members and over 120 private attendings across all Gynecologic and Obstetric specialties. The department has an independent residency program with 7 residents per year, as well as fellowship programs in MFM, REI, MIGS, and GYN Oncology. Cedars Sinai Medical Center is one of the busiest hospitals in California with over 6000 deliveries and over 2500 gynecologic surgical cases per year. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology has seven board certified gynecologic oncologists as well as collaborative research scientists in the women’s cancer program. The Gynecologic Oncology Division has a long track record of excellence in patient care, research, and resident/fellow education and provides an excellent environment for professional mentorship. The practice is active both clinically and academically, with a very busy surgical schedule, sizeable clinical trials portfolio, as well as cutting edge translational research. Educational conferences include tumor boards, grand rounds, morbidity and mortality conferences, journal clubs and other didactic opportunities.

The new faculty member will bring research expertise and funding in gynecologic oncology and collaborate with existing OBGYN and Cancer Center faculty. This position is expected to work independently, but in close collaboration and guidance from the Division of Gynecologic Oncology faculty and staff. The position will perform a variety of tasks to support research projects in an area of research specialization, including project planning, experimental protocols and procedures and administration of day-to-day lab operations including the supervision of the gynecologic oncology tissue bank.

Qualified candidates must have a track record of successful funding and publications in gynecologic cancer. As a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, candidate is expected to establish an independent and innovative methodological research program, be involved in collaborative research with medical, basic science, and population science investigators, and actively participate in our educational mission. They must be able to work cooperatively and collegially within a diverse environment. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to academic medicine and be an excellent educator. Faculty appointments are through the Cedars Sinai Professorial Series and the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The base pay range provided takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge/skills; relevant experience and training; education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors. This base pay range does not include our comprehensive benefits package and any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role.

Compensation Range: Pay Range $71,000 - $260,000

Qualifications

1. Phd or MD/PhD - Doctorate with three (3) or more years’ experience in Gynecologic Oncology research

2. National or international prominence with proven abilities as Principal Investigator and mentor including first authored publications

3. Demonstrated ability to generate grant funds

4. Computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows and/or a comparable operating system that sufficiently provides for access to patient and other business information
