Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the unscheduled & scheduled maintenance and preventive maintenance of all electrical equipment and services as assigned to Plant Operations Department, managing, Senior Craftworkers, Craft Specialist and contractors who perform the work.

  • The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing, supervising and supporting required maintenance, repairs or construction and to ensure that all highly sophisticated electrical equipment is always in a safe and fully operational mode.

  • The Operations Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the proper coverage for the areas of his/her responsibility. This person is responsible for ensuring that all of the staff are filly trained and qualified to provide the technical support for repairs and maintenance to each and everyone of the electrical pieces of equipment, which includes but not limited to electronic switch gear, ATS, UPS, panel boards, and fuse boxes.

  • The Operations Supervisor provides on going evaluation of all the electrical equipment and makes recommendation as needed for improvement or replacement to any equipment that could fail or cause issues that jeopardized safely and performance.

  • The Operations Supervisor participates on committees such as department Policies and Procedures, Job Descriptions, Construction, Hazardous Waste, safely and others as assigned.

  • The Operations Supervisor is responsible for testing, inspection, and maintenance of electrical panels and motor control centers. Ensure compliance with electrical codes. Testing and inspection of emergency power per LAFD Reg #

  1. Read blueprints and schematics. Thorough knowledge and experience on drawing schematics, laying out work, troubleshooting of equipment and machinery is required.
  • Finally this person must be capable of mentoring and training staff on an on-going basis and or as needed in order to keep all staff confident & fully engaged in their assigned task.


Job Requirements:

  • College degree from an accredited engineering school of science, electronic or mechanical engineering or a certification from an accredited school in any of the discipline above preferred.

  • State of California Certified General Electrician Certification required.

  • Must have at least 7 to 10 years experience in assistant manager or manager's role in a medical center or complex commercial environment. Progressively responsible experience demonstrating ability to supervise, set priorities, handle multiple projects or assignments, and meet completion schedules within established timeframes.

  • Familiarity with the trade work of the areas or responsibility. Experience with similar tasks and responsibilities in a hospital.

  • Must have excellent ability to manage staff in difficult environmental situations and within a union environment.

  • Excellent communication skills and a positive motivator of staff.

  • Fully knowledgeable of JCAHO. Dept. of Health and other regulatory agency requirements for electrical safety, routine preventive maintenance and compliance.

  • Manages, organizes and leads outside electrical contractors during all REG#4 testing to ensure complete compliance of all electrical systems.

  • Have basic knowledge of the pneumatic lube systems to manage staff and ensure continued functionality of the system.

  • Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and follow-up skills to ensure the higher level of customer confidence & satisfaction.
