Tell me about the role:
The Orthopedic Technician is an allied health professional supports the physician, nursing staff and Medical Assistants in the delivery of health care by performing a variety of patient care duties and tasks related to orthopedic patient needs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities, in this job you will:
•Assists physician, NP or PA in assessment of signs, symptoms, analysis, treatment and care of the orthopedic patient.
•Under physician, NP or PA instruction, provide education involving the care and plan of treatment of the orthopedic patient. (i.e proper care of cast and splints).
•Under physician, NP or PA direction, assists with application and execution of orthopedic procedures and services concerning the orthopedic patient: Apply and remove all types of casts, splints, slings, immobilization devices and traction; Assist with reduction of fractures and dislocation; Inspect and adjust bandages and equipment needed for orthopedic care; In the event of an emergency, apply recognized first aid procedures; Assist with aspirations; Prepare injections; Position, prep and drape patients; Apply and manage post-operative dressings on wounds following aseptic techniques; Fit various orthopedic equipment such as walkers, crutches, braces and providing patient instruction.
•Prepare patients for provider by reviewing current medications and record in medical record as needed.
•Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs and takes appropriate vital signs and record in medical record as needed.
•Performs designated diagnostic tests as directed by provider.
•Assists in follow-up scheduling needs; Answer patient calls, questions and addresses problems in timely fashion.
•Communicates all significant clinical findings to MD.
•Serves as liaison with other departments, facilities, and hospital as needed.
- Vocational/Technical Diploma - Successful completion of Orthopedic Technology program preferred
- 2 or more years of experience in outpatient medical setting with orthopedic specialty experience
Certification from NBCOT (National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologist)-New hires will be given 6 months from date of hire to obtain the certification.
BLS from the American Heart Association and/or the American Red Cross
