Cedars-Sinai Patient Service Rep II - Angeles Clinic in Los Angeles, California

As a member of the patient care team and the primary point of patient contact, the Patient Service Representative is responsible for positive patient relations, proper telephone communication, appointment scheduling, patient registration, as well as payment and co-payment collection. This position also performs routine duties associated with the collection and maintenance of current patient demographics and insurance information.

The Patient Service Representative II is able to demonstrate the ability to complete the requirements of this position with minimal supervision based on the standard work for their department with minimal supervision.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities in order of most significance:

•Greet patients

•Manage patient care flow and assist with monitoring CS-Link message pools and standard work

•Check-in and out patients and collect co-payments/give receipts/reconcile payments

•Verify that patient demographic and insurance information is correct in CS-Link

Demonstrate the knowledge necessary to schedule appointments, complete patient registration, collect patient payments and to provide a high level of patient service

•Process and track referrals

•Handle patient/provider correspondence

•Address patient, physician, and staff concerns and possess the knowledge to escalate problems accordingly

•Monitor and assess their workflow to identify opportunities for improvement

•Assist with the management of physician schedules

•Demonstrate the ability to communicate with patients, family members, medical staff, administrative staff, insurance plans, and other departments

•Explain policies, procedures, or services to patients using medical or administrative knowledge

•Participate in daily huddles and staff meetings

•Assist with tracking and monitoring department specific data

•Adhere to all infection prevention standards

•Adhere to all department policies and guidelines


Clinic office experience

Experience working as a Patient Service Representative in an outpatient clinical/medical office setting

2 yrs - Minimum

3 yrs - Preffered

Educational Requirements:

High school graduate or equivalent - Minimum

College - Preferred

License/Certification/Registration Requirements: N/A
