The Patient Service Representative II (PSR II), following established practices, policies, and guidelines, provides clerical and administrative support/duties while handling high volume of patient coordination and complex scheduling in the licensed clinics at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The PSR II is cross trained to cover multiple providers and is a resource. Duties may include: answering incoming telephone calls; scheduling and authorization for appointments, coordination of procedures/tests and other ancillary services; patient check-out and rescheduling of follow-up appointments; training for new PSRs, insurance verification functions; chart/medical records preparation; and sorting and deposition of mail and patient information. Applies a detailed knowledge of the areas of assigned responsibility, and a general knowledge of the ambulatory/outpatient physician setting and its interrelation with the larger Health System organization. Communicates with patients, schedules appointments, gathers and delivers clinical reports for doctor/coordinator review. Generates letters for immigration/embassies, assists in data collection, participates in process improvement and operational projects as needed. Interfaces with 3rd party payors, and ensures medical documents are uploaded into the electronic health record. This PSR II will also provide support to the Clinical Coordinators and other staff with any patient focused task and will actively participate in quality/PI projects.
High School Diploma/GED.
College Diploma preferred.
2 years of experience working with insurance companies and obtaining authorizations in a medical office/hospital setting.
General understanding of Medical Terminology, Medical Terminology coursework preferred.
