As the Physician Assistant in Transgender Surgery & Health Program, you will work in collaboration with the Supervising Physician to provide pre-op and post-op assessments of patients, consults and/or follow-up care in the clinic, and assist the physician in the Operating Room.
Surgical First Assist on all cases
Use a high degree of clinical competency with suture skills, equal to that of the surgeon
Demonstrate your advanced knowledge of anatomy
Maintain current knowledge of state-of-the-art surgical techniques
Contribute intelligent input into every surgical procedure
Write orders in Recovery Room, ICU and floor
Follow patients in the Medical Center and write daily progress notes
Maintain clear communication with the surgeons and any consultants regarding patient status both pre- and post-discharge
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program required
Bachelor’s degree required
Current, unrestricted California Physician Assistant License required
DEA license required (or eligible to obtain)
Active and current National Physician Assistant Certification required (or eligible to obtain)
ACLS from American Heart Association
A minimum of 1 year experience in operating room as first assist strongly preferred
Urology, plastic or transgender surgery experience preferred.
Experience with consult and follow up in the inpatient and outpatient hospital setting strongly preferred
