The Biomedical Imaging Research Institute (BIRI) is looking for a potential research assistant to assist multiple projects on medical image processing and analysis in Dr. Debiao Li’s lab. The position is for someone with BS or MS degree in computer vision, machine learning, biomedical engineering, physics, science of magnetic resonance, or medical imaging with basic knowledge of applied Mathematics and Statistics. Knowledge of image analysis and machine learning would be a plus together with some experience on algorithm development.
Essential job Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of routine
laboratory tasks and procedures.
Keeps accurate and detailed project
records of experiments and results.
Maintains lab equipment and related
Transports, processes and logs
Maintains computer database with
relevant clinical information.
Performs lab maintenance duties,
including glassware cleaning and sterilization.
Maintains stocks of general lab
materials, and places orders for lab equipment and supplies.
Assists new students and fellows at
Assists in the operation of
specialized equipment and machinery.
Observes and complies with safety
standards and procedures.
BS in Biomedical Sciences or Engineering
•Must be efficient in Matlab programming.
•Experience with image analysis software packages such as ITK, and VTK.
•In-depth experience with image processing, image analysis and pattern classification.
•Basic knowledge of Deep learning applied to image classification and/or image segmentation (TensorFlow).
•Basic knowledge of statistical tests, and familiarity with tools such as SPSS, Weka, R.
•Capacity to communicate effectively and provide high quality visual representations of achieved results, as well as high quality scientific writing capability.
