Cedars-Sinai Research Associate I in Los Angeles, California

Job Summary:

Dr. Anja Karlstaedt's laboratory is looking for a highly motivated Research Associate I interested in the

metabolic crosstalk between cardiac and cancer cells to join the Department of Cardiology within the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center! Cedars-Sinai is a multidisciplinary, highly collaborative research center with an emphasis on disease and translational research.

Dr. Karlstaedt’s research focuses on the cellular mechanisms that cause heart failure in cancer patients using interdisciplinary and computational approaches. Our work has uncovered several regulatory mechanisms that explain how oncometabolic stress induces metabolic and proteomic remodeling in the heart and skeletal muscle. The challenge is now to develop strategies that target the tumor while protecting the heart.

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative scientist with a basic scientific background who is willing to learn new techniques, collaborate with postdoctoral scientists, and excited about the challenges of examining the interactions between metabolism, cancer, and immunity.

Working under direct supervision, the Research Associate I performs a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research.
