As a Research Associate III, you will work closely with the PI, providing technical and/or administrative support in large or multi-project oriented labs. You may be requested by the PI to take on specific supervisory activities and provide administrative leadership and/or technical expertise, and may develop the hypothesis and assist in planning steps for the investigative process. You will review and remain current on literature as it relates to clinical/research study, while coordinating all lab and/or clinical activities including but not limited to budgetary/financial compliance, preparation of grant proposals, and creating independent presentations. The RAIII is not responsible for generating grant funds.
Provides miscellaneous research support
Monitors and ensures compliance with safety standards and procedures
Analyzes data and prepares scientific findings for publication as author or co-author
May make independent presentations
Helps to train Research Lab Assistants, Research Fellow, lower level Research Associates, and other related support staff as requested by PI
Orients new lab members in day-to-day lab operations and procedures
Bachelor of Science Degree, required. Master of Science Degree or higher, preferred.
3-5 years of laboratory experience.
Understanding of general research objectives.
Familiar with routine laboratory procedures, experimental protocols, and overall lab organization.
Applicant must be highly motivated and able to work independently.
Must have superior interpersonal, communication and organization skills and the ability to work across company disciplines and functional units, and computer application experience.
Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel and Word.
Ability to simultaneously manage multiple clerical trials, and attention to details.
Knowledge and Skills:
DNA or RNA extraction and purification and analysis by PCR or qRT-PCR
Agarose gel electrophoresis
Bacterial cloning and plasmid preparation
Intravenous, subcutaneous, intraperitoneal, intranasal and oral administration of drugs, cells, and cytokines
Isolation of cell populations by magnetic beads or flow cytometry
Surgical extraction of mouse tissue and processing of tissue as required for imaging or flow cytometry
Cell culture and various cellular assays
Inventory tracking and supply ordering
Performs well-controlled experiments along with data analysis
General lab maintenance and complex reagent preparation as required
Help train new lab personnel
Aid PI as required with input for publication or grant submission
Coordinate with core facilities, blood bank, or clinical trial research coordinators as required to obtain samples
