Cedars-Sinai Research Grant Specialist I - Graduate Research Administration in Los Angeles, California

As a Research Grant Specialist I, you will work with directly with the Graduate Research Administration Manager to complete and prepare for submittal of federal, non-federal, and foundation grants. You will act as the liaison between departments/research groups and the Sponsored Research & Funds Administration, Accounting, and Finance departments.

Additional duties and responsibilities:

  • Assist with budget development and entry of financial information into federal systems

  • Ensure technical proposal is compliant with all federal, state, and local agencies solicitation requirements

  • Monitor and track awards submitted and received

  • Monitor federal and non-federal grant accounts, track expenses, project reconciliation and research-related financial reporting

  • Perform necessary funding corrections via direct cost transfer requests (DCTRs)

  • Assist in the development of financial projections for project account management

  • Assist in the development and submission of progress reports

  • Perform Pre-Award administrative tasks including preparation of internal documents, review of proposals to ensure requirements are met, and drafting and reviewing proposal budgets

  • Assist faculty, students, and management team with all T32, F31, F32 Pre-Award and Post Award activities, including trainee assignments in xTrain, Pre-Award submissions, and Post Award financial management including payroll/stipend allocations

  • Act as point of contact for all T32 coordination and questions across the student /trainee population on campus

Educational Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree and a minimum of one (1) year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Increasing responsibility preferred

Experience and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and understanding of Grants, Manuscripts, and Abstracts guidelines

  • Knowledge of general accounting and financial analysis required

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft strongly preferred

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related applications required

  • Demonstrated ability to create and utilize Excel spreadsheets for budget and data tracking

  • Ability to identify problems and resourcefulness to resolve them independently using own initiative

  • Able to handle multiple tasks with short timelines, prioritize work, and complete assignments in a timely and accurate manner

  • Ability to interact effectively with staff members at all levels of the organization

  • Must be highly organized, patient, persistent, and require minimal supervision in execution of assigned tasks

  • T32, F31, F32 administrative experience preferred
