About the team:

The Cedars-Sinai Inflammatory Bowel and Immunology Research Institute (IBIRI) refers to chronic inflammatory conditions of the intestines, including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The gastroenterology and gastrointestinal (GI) surgery program at Cedars-Sinai is the No. 2 program nationwide. The internationally recognized IBD specialists at Cedars-Sinai are dedicated to providing outstanding, patient-centered care for the management of IBD, and are engaged in groundbreaking research to help cure these diseases.

What will you be doing in this role?

Research Operations Associate is responsible for planning, implementing, and administering the day-to-day operations of a recognized organizational and/or departmental program. Contributes to the strategic planning, design, development and implementation of program objectives, procedures, processes, and standards. May supervise staff as it relates to the overall management of the program.

  • Responsible for scheduling academic activities including seminars, and departmental meetings

  • Assist with administrative and projected management, compliance, and regulatory activities of research staff members, including coordination of compliance trainings

  • Develops and administers budgets and reconciles expenses. Tracks and monitors budget activities and analyzes variances

  • Provides leadership and oversight of pre- and post- grant process and grant activity

  • Submits continuations, amendments, responds to correspondence, generates reports, and maintains research files and documentation involving the regulatory requirements for the study/clinical trial

  • Projects may include, but are not limited to investigator-initiated protocol development, case report form development, and budget development

  • May facilitate the faculty contracting process in coordination with Academic HR

  • MIRIAD Assurance Distribution, Notations, Tracking

  • IRB/regulatory coordination and support

  • 3358 Scope and Purpose and Accurate Representation and Interpretation of IRB protocol, Ongoing Amendments, Protocol Evolution in accordance with best practices

  • Assist with coordination of laboratory operational needs, may arrange for equipment maintenance

  • Department specific job duties may include, but are not limited to, event coordination, space planning, project management, strategic planning and providing other specialized support to PLS and project work



  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related research field or related years of work experience, required

  • Masters' degree preferred

  • Three (3) years of business management experience in an academic research or healthcare environment, required

  • Demonstrated experience in budget development or grant management highly preferred
