As a Biomedical Scientist (Quantitative Proteomics Lead), you will independently design, conduct, analyze, and report studies outlined by your supervisor or Executive Director, and actively propose new avenues of investigation. This exciting position will give you the opportunity to explore novel technology and workflows for process improvement while proactively assigning projects, leads, and writing standard operating procedures (SOPs). You will guide a small team dedicated to developing quantitative proteomic profiling and targeted assays using both high and low resolution techniques, all while working within a brand-new laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS instrumentation (Orbitrap Lumos Fusion, Exploris, QTRAP6500).
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs hands-on experimental work; must have a thorough understanding of laboratory and research functions.
Manages assigned projects including associate's activities in a regulated working environment.
Leads development of state-of-the-art quantitative proteomics workflows from sample preparation to data analysis.
Performs tasks related to analytical projects, assigns work, monitors progress, and evaluates experimental data. Identifies any issues/problems and makes plans to resolve them.
Prepares written and verbal updates on research findings, including project plans and deliverables.
Practices proper documentation skills, ensuring all documentation complies with Federal and State accrediting agency requirements including CAP/CLIA, ISO, and FDA requirements as necessary.
Writes and reveiws SOPs and maintains computer database of established protocols.
Maintains electronic and non-electronic records under accepted regulatory practices.
Ensures all activities comply with regulatory guidelines and safety standards by monitoring all on-going activities and interacts with other teams within the organization regularly.
Coordinates and assists quality control team with all testing activities where required.

Team Lead/Supervisory/Management Responsibilities:
Leads projects, trains, and assists other associates on day-to-day lab operations and procedures.
Supervises the day-to-day work of employees, ensures tasks are completed and deadlines are met.
Manages and mentors junior scientists and research technologists.
Responsible for hiring, onboarding, personnel actions, performance reviews, and performance improvement plans.
Department-Specific Responsibilities and Requirements:
Develops of state-of-the-art proteomic workflows and technology.
Experience across the entire proteomic workflow from sample prep to data analysis.
Hands-on experience with Thermo and Sciex mass spectrometry platforms for both low and high resolution analysis techniques.
In-depth knowledge of protein chemistry and allied techniques (electrophoresis, western blot, affinity chromatography).
Familiarity with mass spectrometry analysis software (vendor specific and open source).

- PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry or related science/engineering field required
Experience and Skillset:
Minimum of 5 years in independent industrial and/or postdoctoral scientific experience
Highly motivated with a proven record of scientific productivity in the development of novel, high performance quantitative mass spectrometry workflows for proteins and peptides
Excellence in communication, collaboration, and enthusiasm to join a growing, dynamic group
Ability to manage multiple projects within the objectives of the group and cultivate a culture of excellence
