Primary Job Summary:
The Staffing Coordinator is a member of the nursing office supporting the nursing teams with the allocation and deployment of nursing staff members. They are responsible for the appropriate deployment of nursing members aligning the patient's needs and the assignment of the nursing staff. This role maintains competency skills including the ability to interact with diverse cultural backgrounds, medical terminology, HIPAA, personnel confidentiality and computer skills.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Acts as the communication liaison with the patient care areas relaying nursing needs based on acuities of the patients, appropriately and accurately.
Appropriately allocates the nursing team care members to each unit accurately reflecting the nursing needs of the patients.
Serves as a subject matter expert for the current staffing software in use.
Support the centralized staffing efforts of the organization.
Triage the sitter cases regarding the priority assignments for the mental health workers. Jeer
Must be proactive in the aligning of hospital sitters to the most clinically appropriate assignment.
Continually reviewing the schedules to identify overtime shifts for evaluation of necessity.
After unit-based schedules are published, maintains the integrity of all the unit-based schedules by analyzing whether changes can be granted based on unit par levels, census, and skill mix.
Works with nursing staff taking responsibility for resolving problems, complaints or connecting to the appropriate nursing leader.
Contributes to team effort by completing assignments, maintaining a productive and harmonious work environment, and complying with safety standards.
Responsible for regular census and acuity checks to ensure alignment of budgetary and staffing needs
Maintains HIPAA compliance.
Performs other related duties as assigned or required.
Works in a collaborative role with other department leaders, managers and related offices or departments.
Provides support with on-boarding of new team members.
High School Diploma/GED.
One (1) year of data entry and/or clerical experience. (Healthcare preferred).
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Solid understanding of AB 394 - California staffing ratios.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Strong computer skills: MS Word and Excel.
