The Cedars-Sinai Department of Radiation Oncology in Los Angeles, California is recruiting for a Radiation Oncology Physicist at its Radiation Oncology Affiliate sites, including Tarzana and Pasadena, CA.

Cedars-Sinai is a nationally recognized leader in comprehensive clinical cancer care, research, and post-graduate medical education including Radiation Oncology and Medical Physics residency programs.

The combined departments include six linear accelerators with VMAT, SBRT, SRS, and IGRT capabilities, two HDR brachytherapy afterloaders, two superficial treatment units, three 4D CT-simulators, real-time motion management systems, multi-modality deformable imaging/treatment planning systems and oncology information systems. Over 3000 new patients are treated each year at Cedars-Sinai Radiation Oncology Departments.

This is an opportunity to join a dynamic group of physicists whose responsibilities include:

  • Staff and resident education

  • Clinical and machine quality control

  • Participation in the departments’ expanding academic and translational research efforts, including novel clinical trials and implementation of advanced clinical treatment techniques

The physics group provides extensive opportunities for peer review, AAPM continuing education, interdisciplinary lectures, and direct collegial support.

Responsibilities include shared management of departmental radiation safety, linear accelerator modeling and calibration; brachytherapy calibration, planning and treatment delivery; high energy linear accelerator: 3-D, IMRT, VMAT with IGRT treatment planning and delivery. Utilization of advanced optimization techniques; and new treatment device: selection, acceptance, and commissioning are also essential physics group tasks. Additional responsibilities include staff/faculty training at both the main campus and affiliate departments.


  • PhD or MS required, preferably in Radiological Medical Physics


  • Board Certification by the ABR or CCPM in Therapeutic Radiological Physics is preferred, while post residency Board eligible candidates will be considered


  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with clinical radiation oncology required

  • Ideal candidates should have a strong clinical competence, experience with a variety of radiation oncology devices and software, radiation oncology research experience and exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
