About the Team

The MAST program at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is dedicated to the development of novel drugs and devices to diagnose and treat patients. This innovative program is working to develop new diagnostics and therapeutics to treat patients with illnesses related to imbalances or alterations in the microbiome. The Research Lab Assistant I participates in animal husbandry and research procedures in rodents. This position assists with lab organizing, cleaning, and maintenance duties including washing and sterilizing glassware. The incumbent in this role operates autoclave and other specialized equipment, utilizing special detergents or other cleaning agents. This position assists with ordering and maintenance of laboratory inventory, and performs other lab maintenance as required. May participate in research studies and perform basic lab techniques under guidance of the laboratory supervisor.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs lab cleaning and maintenance duties, including washing and sterilization of glassware, operation of autoclaves, and other specialized equipment

  • Assists in maintaining laboratory and its equipment record keeping

  • May assist Research Lab Assistant II

  • Performs other duties as required

Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required

  • Associate's Degree, preferred

Experience :

  • Familiarity working with animals

  • Ability to understand and perform a variety of routine cleaning and maintenance procedures to support the activity of one or more research labs

  • Ability to use specialized equipment and materials

  • Ability to comply with safety standards and procedures

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting, standing, and walking
